Strawberries!

July 4 hours - 8 a.m - 12 noon

The season is winding down as we head towards the July 4 weekend, but there are still nice berries to be found, though you may have to work a little harder for them. Last day for pre-picked orders will be Wednesday, July 2.

We plan to remain open through any passing showers, but if we happen to receive a heavy thunderstorm, we may have to close due to muddy field conditions. Check the weather radar, looking just below the Onondaga/Cortland County line to see if showers are in our area, where they may not be in yours. Please check back here, or call the phone message at 607-749-4032 if the weather looks iffy. Hope to see you soon!

We plan on having the field open for picking until at least July 4, but the sooner you get here, the easier the picking.

Email subscribers get the most up-to-date information, so feel free to subscribe by clicking on the link and typing the word subscribe in the subject line. We'll be putting out a mid-season update sometime during the last week of June to update picking conditions, and issue a reminder about chicken processing.

Chicken & Turkey

2008 Remaining Processing Dates*

July 26 - Sold Out
August 23 - Sold Out
September 20
October 18

We've increased the chick order on the the last 2 dates, and possibly the last 3, due to increased demand. As always, it's easier to order more now and cancel later if you change your mind, rather than running the risk of a date being sold out.

Summer turkeys will be processed around August 23, there are currently 5 left for sale. Turkey breast on the grill is a fine thing! Thanksgiving turkeys will be available the weekend before Thanksgiving. Please place orders ASAP, if you have not done so already.

* Subject to change, with advance notice

Pork

There are still a few retail cuts of pork left for sale in the right door, top shelf, of the beef freezer.

The new group of piglets are growing happily. There are still several left for sale, available by either the whole or half, ready in late August, early September.

Pork price is$3.50 per pound, plus processing, for wholesale pork. If interested, please contact us.

Beef

A new supply of beef should be available by June 28, chicken processing day. Please Inquire if interested.

If you would like to order a special cut, or one we don't usually have available, please contact us. Our plan is to concentrate on steaks, shaved steaks, a few roasts, and patties unless we hear differently from customers.

Beef Combo packages contain the following:*

5 pounds of porterhouse, t-bone, or delmonico steak
5 pounds of sirloin steak/london broil

6 pounds of ground beef

5 pounds of rump/round roast

1 package of 1/4 # hamburgers = 10 patties

*substitutions are possible, depending on supply and demand

This beef is located in the 3-door beef freezer at the barn. Ground beef can also be found in the freezer of the egg fridge. Please contact us if you would like to reserve an order. Alternatively you can serve yourself and leave payment either in the Snapple cooler or egg refrigerator. If you would like to order a special cut for a future processing please contact us.

Eggs

Eggs are still in steady supply. The hens are looking forward to their summer home out on the pasture. Egg prices will increase on Sunday, May 25 to $3.50 per dozen. Increases in feed prices are more than we can continue to absorb.

We gladly accept clean, recycled egg cartons. It seems to work best (and save space) if you are able to nest the cartons within each other. Leaving them on top of the fridge is fine.

Compost

-Healthy soils = Healthy plants = Healthy animals = Healthy people!

Spring compost demand has been steady. Compost is available any time by appointment.Ê The best times for us is 4-6 any afternoon,or 8-9 on Saturday and Sunday mornings.Ê Please call or email and make an appointment first, so we can be ready with the loader.

Compost samples are available upon request.
